Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is one of the most common health complaints worldwide. However, not all lower back pain is the same, and the underlying cause can vary significantly from person to person.

Lower back pain may be acute, such as a sudden "locked-up" back (commonly known as a slipped or strained back), or it may develop gradually and become chronic. While some cases originate from the lower back itself, pain can also be influenced by problems in other areas of the body, including the neck, upper back, hips, knees, or ankles. In some cases, internal medical conditions may also contribute to back pain.

Common factors associated with lower back pain include muscle and fascial tension, joint dysfunction, muscle spasms, disc injuries, and movement imbalances.

Interestingly, approximately 85% of lower back pain cases are classified as "non-specific low back pain," meaning that X-rays, MRI scans, and other imaging tests do not identify a clear structural cause. In many of these cases, soft tissues such as muscles, fascia, ligaments, and joint capsules may play a significant role.

As chiropractors and manual therapists, we specialize in assessing and treating these soft tissue and movement-related problems.

While pain medication may help reduce symptoms temporarily, it does not always address the underlying cause. If the root problem remains unresolved, symptoms may return repeatedly.

At PEAK Recovery Lab, every session begins with a thorough assessment to help identify the factors contributing to your pain and discomfort.

In some situations, treatment may not be appropriate. If our assessment indicates a condition that requires further medical investigation—such as a significant disc injury or neurological involvement—we may recommend referral to a medical specialist before proceeding with treatment.

Lower back pain should not be ignored. Early assessment and appropriate care can often help prevent symptoms from becoming more severe or persistent.

If you are experiencing lower back pain or discomfort, please feel free to contact us. We are here to help.
